As a former hospital administrator, large clinic Executive Director, Corporate VP of Operations for a national medical management firm, Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and shared overseer for HMO insurance risk fund ... I had a sense of what the specialized medicine, hospital and insurance industries were about. Very sophisticated services; very expensive technology; ever increasing costs, and many intelligent and hard-working professionals doing what they were well-trained to do. There were just a few things missing:
- Customer focus and service
- Reimbursement and services for prevention, wellness and health
- Easy, timely, affordable access
- Integration of available medical treatments with alternative preventative programs
- Consistency of culture, protocol, service and costs from one provider to the next
- Our nation is not getting healthier
My wife is the daughter of a physician and sister of four physicians. We respect the medical profession. But, when our children began arriving, Judy became an impassioned advocate for prevention and healthy living. Why live poorly, get sick then seek medical care. Why not just live healthy and prevent sickness? Her passion shaped our family’s health. Her great frustration was that the answers and direction for healthy living were generally not available from within the medical community. If “healthcare” is about “health”, then why isn’t “healthy lifestyle” a service to be found with “healthcare providers”? Her opinion was: “It should be!”
From within the medical care industry, I saw the increasing demand for timely access, cost effectiveness and attentiveness to the client’s needs. I saw companies struggling to deal with rising healthcare costs. My frustration was that the culture of the healthcare system was about the system, not about the patients. If medicine is a service industry, then why isn’t their culture focused on the access, affordability and healthy life of the customers? My opinion was: “It should be!”
Our “should be” became WellQuest. It is a dream of an integrated medical site where physicians team with nurses, technicians, dietitians and aestheticians to offer sophisticated medical treatment with programs for prevention, wellness and healthy living. WellQuest has a serious culture built around the needs of our clients and the opportunity to lead them in their personal quests for wellness. We do not want to “look, act or smell” like any other doctor offices. WellQuest provides peaceful and beautiful facilities; extended hours seven days per week; aroma therapy and a staff devoted to client service and wellness.
At WellQuest, we want to be your family site for medical physicians, x-ray, labs, injuries, allergies, business health, school health, and preventative programs. But, we are also your source for weight loss, nutrition counseling, healthy lifestyle, wellness, vitamins, skincare, aesthetics and more.
“Welcome to WellQuest.” The future of medicine is now!
